In Memoriam of Dr. Michael Sifri

Dr. Michael Sifri was an ophthalmologist who provided comprehensive surgical and medical care for 30 years prior to his tragic passing in March of 2024.  He cared for countless patients and had the most recognizable laugh this side of town.  Dr. Sifri was renown for his magnetic personality and excellence in cataract surgery. He was able to bring that energy to Honduras and El Salvador every year on his cataract surgery mission trip.  It was this mission that most energized him.  He would spend months planning the intricacies of setting up operating rooms in substandard conditions and still provide high quality care.  His presence and energy will be sorely missed.  Dr. Sifri was survived by his wife, Dr. Jacqueline Sifri, his sisters Nina Kuley (Alex's mother), Randa Sifri, his brother George, and countless cousins, nephews and nieces.

Meet Dr. Alexander Kuley

Dr. Alexander Kuley, the nephew of Michael and grandson of David Sifri, joined the family practice in 2023.   He previously practiced in a retina group setting prior to joining.  With Board Certification in comprehensive ophthalmology and fellowship training in retinal surgery, Dr. Kuley continues our family's tradition of excellence and compassion in eye care.  Through Dr. Kuley, we offer injections for macular degeneration, along with treatments and surgeries for other retinal diseases.

Dr. Kuley attended St. Xavier High School before graduating cum laude with a degree in biomedical engineering from Vanderbilt University.  He received his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine with honors in medical education. He then went to Georgetown University to complete his medicine internship.  He completed his ophthalmology residency at University of Cincinnati, where he served as chief resident and was awarded special  commendation for leadership. He completed his Retina and Vitreous Surgery fellowship at the  prestigious Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan where he earned the Henry Ford Star award for outstanding fellow across all specialties.  Dr. Kuley enjoys medical mission work, hiking, and golf.

Prior to joining us, he has worked in large group private practice and trained extensively in everything from routine eye care to complex cataract and retinal surgery.  Beyond offering the latest treatments, Dr. Kuley prides himself on providing personalized experience for each patient.  Ocular disease can be challenging, but Dr. Kuley is dedicated to bringing cutting age care to preserve and restore vision for you and your loved one.
